The first democratic senator to publicly call for Schumer’s ouster will get my money and enthusiastic support. I’m sure I’m not alone in that.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Veteran politicians need to earn and *maintain* respect, like everyone else.

Any respect Durbin may have once earned has long been lost.
I know some folks like to show respect for veteran politicians, but I’m done with that.
Dick Durbin has been useless in a job that could’ve been held by someone who actually understood the fascist threat.
If you’re not built for the fight, get out of the fight. But don’t throw us to the dogs.

It's insanity to shutdown the government for 40 days, and just when gaining some real leverage, entirely cave. Why make people suffer for 40 days and gain nothing?

It's past time for rank and file democratic politicians to openly call for a change in leadership. We can't keep folding like this.

🧵 A classic psychoanalytic phenomenon, "fear of breakdown," helps convey why it's essential––if we're to beat back fascism––to understand Trump not as the cause of democracy's destruction but rather as a symptom of it. We are on the edge of the breakdown of democracy, liberals say. Unity, not...

it’s beyond comprehension that scenes like this have become routine in chicago.

masked soldiers are carelessly lobbing chemical weapons—that are banned from use during warfare—on random residential streets.

this is the third time feds have tear-gassed residents in chicago *this week!*
Video from witness here from the moment CBP gassed neighbors who had gathered outside after the kidnapping.

Agent rolls a canister at the crowd out of the window of their car as they reverse away from people with whistles and bikes.

None of this "you've had years to leave, why didn't you etc" nonsense. We *want* people to defect, we *want* the GOP to lose operatives and supporters. It is *hard* to deprogram cult-like beliefs, especially ones that have had a lifetime to marinate. We need these pieces so others leave too!

This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

Hey @govpritzker.illinois.gov, you need to do something about these ISP goons attacking protesters like @katmabu.bsky.social.
Police escalated the situation here in Broadview incredibly quickly. Saw multiple brutal arrests. ISP jabbing protesters with their batons like battering rams.

Here ISP lifts @katmabu.bsky.social by her feet to flip her over a concrete barrier.

Is this dementia or is this the same old playbook Trump has used for years: deny, deflect, and distort reality to his own benefit?

I’m not arguing trump is a paragon of cognitive health, but arguing he truly forgot he was president on 1/6 lets him off the hook for his sinister Roy Cohn tactics.
Hey @jaketapper.bsky.social, I'm no expert on cognitive illnesses, but it feels a bit detached from reality for a sitting POTUS to forget that he was in power during an attack on the U.S. Capitol, doesn't it? Do you know anyone in journalism with experience covering dementia-like symptoms?

The number of news pieces on this story, as well as the conservative justices’ and plaintiff’s views, that rely on entirely erroneous ideas about psychotherapy, autonomy, sexuality, motivation, and coercion is infuriating and devastating.
The reason this therapy is used on kids is because it's often abusive, coercive, manipulative and dangerous—no kid would choose it if they had adult faculties, making Justices' claims that the therapy is "voluntary" profoundly misleading. And the idea that therapy has no medical component is insane.
