Laws without consequences, and the Constitution is after all just the supreme law, have no force. You have to enforce them. There has to be punishment for violating them. It needs to be a real disincentive and warning to others. That's what law is, the application of the state's monopoly on force.

I would also add, that “an America that adequately defenestrates its authoritarian sects and funding networks” would present the most reliable and stable global partner in….in a long time
the question is not "will the US take precisely the same leadership role as before." we can't. but there is no longer a stable democratic core beyond the reach of authoritarian consolidation, and if we break free of it ourselves we cannot simply retreat from the world while we return to sanity.
