My old man take is that mountain biking used to be better before everything became over-engineered tracks full of man-made banks and jumps and wooden causeways. It used to be more organic trails carved through nature, and now it looks more like a bunch of skate park stunts in a row with some trees.

It took me until my 30s to really understand the layers of Wolverine underneath "cool grumpy dude," like the guy who has been around so long that he struggles to believe things will ever really get better or that he will fit in or be welcome among those less jaded than he is.
