Don't worry. As long as you aren't LGBTQIA2S+, Black, Hispanic, Jewish, Muslim, Arab, Asian, Canadian, Ukrainian, Indigenous, an immigrant, atheist, disabled, neurodivergent, female, poor, a journalist, an activist, an abortion, someone with an opinion, or a paper straw- then you'll be fine.

Schooling Canada's MAGA MAPLE.
Pierre Poilievre made his name beating down on a small town journalist while filling his face with an apple.
He comes to Northern Ontario for rage rallies but won't go in the mines or mills to meet workers.
I come from a mining town.

Three years ago, I had the honour of collaborating with Ukrainian dancers from Edmonton via a virtual meeting. They taught me some Ukrainian dance moves, and I taught them some Bhangra moves. I'm sharing the video today in solidarity because standing with the oppressed is standing for lasting peace.

The irony of the richest man in the world almost single-handedly destroying an agency designed to help the world’s poor, so that the U.S. federal budget has more room for another giant tax cut for the richest man in the world and his pals, should not be lost on anyone. [Cartoon by Mike Luckovich]

Time to start stringing people up by their heels - Mussolini style. I said what I said. There are no other options at this stage. You can stick your heads in the sand, or you can fight for what is rightfully yours - the right to life. Will you sit back and capitulate?

As Trump threatens to annex Canada, some worry an American invasion could one day become reality.

Would Trump enjoy an easy victory? No. Aisha Ahmad explains why.

Just spit-ballin' here.

What if all this "we're taking over your country" energy is just to cause enough fear, so when presented with a very skewed defence/trade pact that includes Canada, Greenland, Iceland, and Norway/Sweden/Finland, we will fall over ourselves to sign? #resist

Grow a garden. Throw a container on your balcony and grow some cukes and tomatoes. Ya, you'll still have to buy, but you will buy less. Buy into CSAs, go to local farmer's markets, check out local greenhouses and seed suppliers. Resistance is independence and resiliency.

Here's a fact most Americans don't know:
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) is the largest purchaser of wine by dollar value in the world.
The LCBO has shut the flow of all American beer, wine, spirits.
We will drink "Freedom wines" from our allies and beer from our communities.

Dear Americans,

You don't need to keep apologizing.

But do remember that the leader you just voted in to make your life easier, just kicked you in the walnuts so hard you may never come up for air.

- Sincerely, Canada

Why Trump's base keeps coming back:

During a trade war...consumption falls. In the long run, skilled workers experience large losses in income and consumption, while unskilled workers are hardly affected...actually gain in the short run. (Intereconomics, 2018)

"Trump's promises to bring down the cost of living were a big reason he was elected, but since taking office he has now twice said that's not his top priority." (NPR, Feb1/25)

Hmmm, wonder what the endgame is.

In a tariff war, ask who benefits (hint: it's not you). Oh, and once the dust settles, don't think prices will ever come back down. Remember COVID supply chain disruptions and the promise of better pricing once it was all over?

Evaluating the potential impacts of US tariffs
The new US administration is considering sweeping tariffs on imports. While many important elements are unknown, these measures could be highly disruptive to the Canadian and US economies.
