This is Blue Labour. And it’s already in power.

If the long term goal would be to rejoin the EU, and Labour were known to be actively pursuing it, the markets would price in that good news and the prospect of an improving economy, and bond market pressures would fade away.

That would negate the need for more austerity, borrowing or tax rises.
