Oppose these 2 bills: SB 5223: Expanding Police Authority to Record Fingerprints ESHB 2015 Sales Tax for Police Hiring Read more Under current law someone currently cited or summoned does not get fingerprinted unless there is a finding of guilt. 5223 would expand the authority of law enforcement to photograph and record fingerprints if a person is cited, released, or issued a summons regardless of an actual finding of guilt. These fingerprints are stored in a national database accessible to ICE and Homeland Security. Number of per capita officers has NOT been shown to decrease crime rates and ESHB 2015 will NOT achieve the legislature's goal of increasing public safety.
