Green Party member. Left Labour when Starmer became leader.
Have seen Maurice Glasman on Newsnight twice and each time he’s seemed arrogant and clueless. If the government are listening to him it’s no wonder they’re low in the polls.

The BBC isn’t just about news and current affairs, which has been biased to the right, if anything, for a long time, but there’s cover of all genres of music, literature, religion, comedy etc. all of which isn’t available elsewhere. Hands off Trump!

Optimistic thought occurs. Trump and his acolytes have rid us of Tory DG of BBC and a right wing head of news. Can we now replace them with left wingers?

Have we not realised that standing up to bullies is the only way to deal with them? All that loving up to Trump recently, and what does he do? Sue the BBC for a billion. Sod off.

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

Heroes.
#OtD 10 Nov 1944 13 members of the Ehrenfeld anti-Nazi resistance group were hanged in the street in Cologne by the Gestapo. Six of them were members of the Edelweiss Pirates: anti-Nazi working-class youth. This is our podcast ep about them: workingclasshistory.com/podcast/72-e...

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

BBC Director General Tim Davie and news CEO Deborah Turness have both quit. Getting rid of a former Tory candidate and the woman who wanted to change output to gain the trust of Reform voters should definitely sort out any left wing bias.

The BBC is so obviously biased towards the ‘metropolitan left’ that it chooses to interview Nigel
Farage and Charles Moore as critics with David Yelland as thee defence. I give up.

Ofc, the hard right Justin Webb and #r4today are going all-in on the "worklessness" 'crisis'.

So, for them, and this Labour govt, here are some facts about welfare spending and those who are out of work.

There is no need for a moral panic about the UK's welfare system.

Far from perfect but recent discourse is nuts

Spending is controlled, not spiralling

Worklessness is near record lows

The UK Government should open its own Pharmaceutical Factory.

More than 98% of drugs used by the NHS are generic, yet many are still sold at more than 10x the cost to produce.

Tens of thousands of jobs and tens of billions of pounds saved, the rest of Europe will buy drugs too.

After the Leveson Inquiry, is the press now beyond control?

The Leveson Inquiry was meant to usher in a new era of press regulation, but have we gone from one ineffective regulator to another?
