You kind of have to view exo as a 9 part a capella group rather than a boyband in the sense that they aren't just sharing lines equally to make fans happy, they're sharing multiple parts of a layered piece of music. They have the baritone, the tenors, and the siren song (that's Xiumin) etc
Hearing Chanyeol singing Hear Me Out with the members on the original track in the background just proves to me that the number of vocals in exo's songs are What makes them. Take one away, you use a whole layer of the song, and it's not the same.
