Given how common wishing harm on others* is in ordinary conversation, I have a very, very hard time believing that that part receives anything resembling consistent enforcement.

*or at least saying things that, if taken literally, would convey that one wished harm on others.

NEW from me: CO2 emissions in China have now been flat or falling for 18 months, the first time that energy demand growth at or above historical averages doesn't drive emissions up, thanks to the clean energy boom. 🧵👇

Hidden in the controversial about UK "choking ban" proposal are a host of even more egregious proposals that could:

* make camming illegal
* redefine escort ads as pimping
* render model contracts unenforceable
* criminalize discussions of teen sexuality

And a whole lot more ...
Moral panic about rough sex gives way to censorship in the UK
British regulators and lawmakers are hot on a measure that would make possessing or publishing strangulation porn a crime.

What Starmer's allies need to realise is that everyone is baffled and resentful about the fact that Starmer is Prime Minister, so doing anything that draws attention to that fact was always going to result in him caving his own head in.
This is even funnier than it just being Streeting on manoeuvres.

it's easier for a lot of people, even people who consider themselves "high-information," to believe that Joe Biden defunded the police than that Republican policies actually have taken food and medicine from people while willfully exposing them to more pollution
Part of the reason for this is that the truth is so awful it defies belief -- akin to literally stating GOP policy positions, people will literally not believe you because, paradoxically, it is so bad that they think, if it were true, everyone would already know and no one would stand for it.

i just want to stress that this isnt about trump anymore, its about the entire republican party and maga movement covering for a child sex trafficking ring
the only thing democrats should be saying today is “the entire republican party is engaged in a coverup of the most notorious child sex trafficking ring in world history”

i mean c’mon. the president’s best friend was the most notorious pedo in the country’s history who ran a massive child trafficking ring. every bit of circumstantial evidence we have says that trump was a participant. if this were a criminal trial we’d have enough evidence to compel a plea deal.

What’s more, it more or less follows from other stuff we know about him. He raped his first wife. He leered at underage girls at pageants he hosted. He bragged on tape about sexually assaulting women. We *know* these things about him. There’s no reason to doubt the thing they all add up to.
People really need to stop framing it is a question of getting more evidence. I mean, sure, that too. But we know. We all know. The president of the United States raped children. Say that. When they get mad at you for saying it, say it again and treat them like an idiot for pretending they doubt it.

One of the key elements of US high politics is that you can never, ever, indict, arrest, or convict a former president because once you start that; they're ALL culpable of war crimes, sex crimes, crimes against humanity, corruption, take your pick.

You'd risk bringing the whole house of cards down.
it's a real shame there wasn't just a Democratic president with control of federal law enforcement for 4 years, otherwise it would be pretty fuckin outrageous that he didn't find this

Beneath all the cries of “ban their phones” lies a more sinister truth:

They fear what happens when Queer kids find each other,
when their connections mean the strength to survive, and their community gives them power to thrive

I hate this "phones" conversation regarding queer people and queer kids because the bottom line is, cishet society KNOWS. Right-wingers KNOW that the internet is how queer people connect to each other---hell, that marginalized people period use it to organize and educate.

That's why they hate it.
