👍Fantastic study 👀 at whether #shorterisbetter in Neutropenic Bacteremia in adults. >80% GNB with almost 18% MDRO, profound neutropenia in 83% of enrollees & post therapy Abx PPX in 65%. Adequate source control in 70%-100%. No diff in relapse or ☠️ if <10 vs > 10 ABX days. #IDSky #TIDSky

Excellent analysis of what happens when a clinical trial is under powered. In this example, it's the use of air purifiers in nursing homes and preventing respiratory tract infections.

Results suggest it might work. Or it might not.

💩 Ugh -- ".. only 12.1% of NDM-producing isolates were susceptible to cefiderocol using the 2024 EUCAST version 14.0 DD breakpoint. Ceftazidime/avibactam and aztreonam synergy was seen in 87.5% of isolates tested..." In some settings, empiric use in MBL -producing isolates may be inappropriate...
