Mainly retired but you can find me from time to time working at the library. Best job ever. 💙📚

I love reading, walking travel and I spend a lot of time researching my family history.

You can read my family tree stories on https://shakingthebranches.com/
A really interesting and entertaining read. Nothing about it made me want to take up cycling or visit America but I do admire his courage and determination.

Just finished Home Before Dark by Eva Björg Ægisdottir. I just love Iceland and Icelandic crime fiction and Ægisdottir is one of the best. Available at your local library.

Then and now. Great day out this week visiting “the street” where my ancestors lived. Think we found the remains of a chimney. The houses were built 1830s and belonged to the Coltness Iron Works. #GenHour #FamilyHistory

Checking census records today and I found a Russian family living in the village of Newmains, Lanarkshire in 1891. Father was a labourer. Anyone any thoughts on how the could’ve ended up there? #GenHour #FamilyHistory

Just finished this and I really enjoyed it. I could totally picture the town and hear the voices of the characters. I was sad to finish and I want to know more about Majella #BookSky #LibrarySky
Michelle Gallen tells us about her book, Big Girl, Small Town, and the language she would love to see it translated into.

In Blúiríní (Irish for snippets), we meet the writer in a place of inspiration or in a space they feel at home.

Since I'm not sure if I'll make it to #GenHour today, I wanted to post this now, just in case.

If any of you have ancestors who were ordinary people living in Victorian England, you'll want to watch the following videos.
