Google wants me to know that now I can buy gift cards on Google Play!

Since they seem to be going around, I'll trot out this old attempt of mine at rewriting Ozymandias in another form:

When I went off to college, I got a "calling card," basically a number I could dial to charge long-distance calls to my own account regardless of whose phone I was using.

I still remember the 14-digit number on that card, which has been obsolete for decades.

Ugh. Google changed how you turn off an alarm on Android.

The one thing I do before I'm completely conscious, and they made me have to think about it. WHY‽

80 years ago this morning—at 5:29 AM (Mountain War Time)—about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, the nuclear age began with a big bang. Contrary to widespread assumptions, the area surrounding the remote Trinity test site was not uninhabited, and the fallout did not drift away harmlessly.
