Tories cut the prison budget by 20% and staff by 25%. They scrapped the Probation Service and replaced it with an American company that gave small contracts to British companies. Of course it failed. The whole thing needs investment. It needs a rethink.

Some British citizens are more British citizens than others as a result of the process where the UK has gradually sought to reduce the rights of its former imperial subjects since WW2. The Windrush scandal was one effect of that process and this is another.
