If we're not at war, Pete Hegseth is a murderer. If we are at war, Pete Hegseth is still a murderer. He's a murderer. And you don't need to go to The Hague to hold him accountable because there are perfectly good, American laws AGAINST MURDER.
My latest in @thenation.com
Pete Hegseth Should Be Charged With Murder
No matter how you look at the strikes on alleged “drug boats”—as acts of war or attacks on civilians—Hegseth has committed a crime and should be prosecuted.

Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

Friendly reminder that striking workers are asking you not to patronize ANY Starbucks store.

If you're traveling this week, your airport definitely has other options. Zero reason to even think about crossing a picket line!

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

My Thanksgiving take is that this is our best, most American, most democratic, most welcoming, & gloriously secular holiday. I have gone to Filipino tgiving with whole roast pig, so many friendsgivings of random folks, restaurant buffets, & everything in between. The only rule is pie for breakfast

Time to move past the neverending trial stage. Yes, basic income reduces homelessness.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Starbucks’ CEO makes 6,666x what the average @sbworkersunited.org barista does. It would take less than one day of sales to finalize a fair contract.

Baristas at Starbucks corporate stores nationwide are on strike to fight this corporate greed and get the fair contract they deserve.

I was just laid off for the second time this year. It's going to be a hard fall and winter. My safety net, as is the case for too many of us especially these days, is the kindness and generosity of friends and strangers. Anything helps.

If this crosses your path, will you please share it? I was laid off last week for the second time this year. I'm pretty scared right now. $1695 secures everything for November. Thank you for your help!
Hello my friends! If you've somehow missed my panicked posts, I was just laid off for the second time this year, and we're a mere teeny weeny (ha!) $1695 short for November bills now.

Can you help? A quick share can go a long way!

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.
