Good luck to everyone competing in the World Rapid & Blitz Championship in NYC! Still scratching my head over scheduling such a major event during the Christmas/New Year holidays.

Hearts are palpitating as the FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 reaches its climax. Game 13 ends in a draw and #DingGukesh is locked at 6.5-6.5. One final classical game remains before potential tiebreakers.

Who will claim the crown?

Noe catching up on R12 recap of #DingGukesh

Difficult to call, but #DingGukesh might skip tiebreaks entirely. Keeping the eyes on Games 13 & 14, they could deliver the deciding moment.

Ding will be alright. If he bounces back, he is twice as lucky. Time to shift focus to the #NigeriaChessChamp

If Ding is playing just to draw every game, it’s a flawed strategy. Refusing to take risks against a talent like Gukesh can be the quickest path to defeat. #DingGukesh

Woke up to the shocking news that Ding lost Game 11—glad I missed the live horror. This new generation led by Gukesh isn’t holding back. #DingGukesh

Ni Hua was in Nigeria for the 2006 FISU World University Chess Championship. I remember seeing him and Bu Xiangzhi at Eko Hotels.

Reflecting on this makes me feel like I have been in this game for years. #DingGukesh

Rapport and Hua have a tough task ahead of them right now. Ding needs to defend comfortably with black and secure a victory with white. While most fans are eager for fireworks, playing it safe is his priority. #DingGukesh

Fabiano Caruana (2805) is playing in the St. Louis Masters as the top seed with about 105 rating points difference between him and the second-seeded GM Ray Robson (2700). He is taking a lot of risks, in my opinion.

On this day 8 years ago, Magnus Carlsen played Qh6+!!, one of the most powerful moves ever made in chess history, to defend his crown as World Chess Champion.

Ding Liren is playing it safe in #DingGukesh, avoiding risks and not pushing when he has a slight edge.

Some strategies in the Art of War by Sun Tzu that can apply to #DingGukesh

1. Appear weak when strong and strong when weak.

2. Also, feign disorder to lure the enemy into a false sense of security.

To think some believe Ding is the underdog in the match is laughable. #DingGukesh

The argument about GOAT in Chess is Baseless.

Chess evolves. Players today have access to sophisticated engines, extensive databases, and opening theory that past champions couldn't even dream of. Comparing players across eras is like comparing apples to oranges. (1/8)
