Writer and musician. My name is aspirational — I move in the direction of renunciation, even though I'm not a "full" renunciant. Check out my writing at ottotherenunciant.substack.com
No matter how real or necessary it may seem, a thought can never be more than a suggestion.

Made a Substack post yesterday sharing my music, the first entry in a new series I’m calling “Music and Musings”. Each post will feature some of my music, art I made for it, and some writing about the song/piece. Read/take a listen here: ottotherenunciant.substack.com/p/music-and-...

I won NYT Connections pretty fast today and said "I'm almost at ChatGPT level" in terms of speed (o1 can solve some of them in the time it takes to just read the words). Then I realized that I'm using AI as the benchmark for my human intelligence. Would have been unthinkable a few months ago. #AI

When I first signed up for Substack, I thought I would want to get to a high subscriber count as fast as possible. But I’ve come to really appreciate having only a few subscribers — I remember each of their names and when they subscribed, and there’s a sense of connection from that.

Just posted a new article, “Buddhism as Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy for All States of Being" on my Substack: ottotherenunciant.substack.com/p/buddhism-a...

Probably the most work I’ve put into a post so far — and I tried out doing my own illustrations too, which was fun!

It’s wise not to speak when I have nothing to say, but the algorithm wants me to post every day no matter what. The algorithm is not very wise. It’s the technological extension of my monkey mind.
