Can someone recommend an NZ feed I can subscribe to? My literal entire home feed right now is American politics and I don’t have the mental bandwidth to deal with any of that right now.

genuine question -- I hope they won't, but if Ferris and Kapa-Kingi get expelled, can they be waka jumped?
Iwi leaders step in as Te Pāti Māori tensions escalate
Iwi leaders will meet with party leadership today in an effort to put a stop to extraordinary infighting.

If you've changed your name and you have old git commits that still show under your old name, you can fix it by adding a `.mailmap` file in the root of a git repository

This file lets you say what name and email address should appear any time git sees a particular email

Here are two suggestions for a more vibrant democracy:

- no urgency unless famine, war, pandemic, etc.
- no press releases or document dumps fri-sun.

Mon - Thursday releases only.

Inspired by the select committee dropping the RSB report late on Friday and yesterday's climate change announcement.

Thanks to the North Shore for having me back as your councillor. I’m proud to be the highest polling councillor on the Shore again and with the highest vote tally of any councillor in Auckland this time around.

I hope the government knows we can’t claim moral superiority on this. We’ve waited until the politically convenient time, when the eyes of the world are upon us, to announce whether or not we’re recognising Palestine.
New Zealand waits as more nations recognise Palestine
Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters will the government's position in his speech at the United Nations later this week, after taking further soundings.

I don’t really comment on Israel/Palestine stuff, but holy shit this is a bad move from the Government. No caveats on what would need to be done to recognise a Palestine state. Spineless cunts.
The Green Party says the Government’s decision not to recognise Palestinian statehood is cowardly, and a stain on Aotearoa’s reputation as a voice for peace and justice internationally. www.greens.org.nz/govt_cowardl...
Govt cowardly in not recognising Palestinian statehood
We are building a future where we do more, faster, to protect our planet and make sure everyone is treated equally.

this is such a minor detail but when the Auckland Pasifika Secondary Schools Choir sung the national anthems of NZ and South Africa at Eden Park the other week, it sounds like they inserted the riff from Nkosi Sikilel iAfrika between the Māori and English verses of the NZ anthem -- which I *love*.

In Welsh mythology, the Milky Way is known as Caer Gwydion ("The fortress of Gwydion") or Llwybr Caer Gwydion ("the path to the Castle of Gwydion"), after the mythological figure Gwydion fab Dôn.

Not to get political on main but I’m really pissed that there’s no viable left wing candidate for Auckland mayor. All I have seen from Kerrin Leoni is one billboard and a failed policy launch. 3 years ago I felt genuinely excited to vote for Fes. I don’t feel that now. I’m debating a protest vote.
