Some of the scary stuff from the administration has been straight up lies - Musk claimed he 'deleted' the IRS free filing program, but users are reporting it's still up and working. If you were going to use it, maybe go ahead and get started now.

Unlike Elon Musk and the DOGE, we know what it’s like to actually work for a living. And we’re not going to let one unaccountable billionaire rig the government for himself.

That’s where we come in. We’re the Department of People Who Work for a Living.

I needed to take a break. Doomscrolling is a terrible way to get through a pregnancy.

Now I'm back, calling my senators and congressional representative, about to reach out to the state AG office. If you haven't installed #5calls I highly recommend it.

Also true of the American revolution and the US Civil War - looots of losses and retreating, 'make them fight for every inch of ground' tactics. Check the thread - defeating an enemy on your home turf is a long slog, but it can be done.

I haven't been posting but I open this app at least once a day to replay this tiktok for my kid. He's obsessed.

He quotes it to other kids, now he got a bunch of little kids running around 'mustaaaaaaaard!'

If you see this, post an anime character that starts with your first initial and pass it on.

I've spent all day zillow-scrolling to see if we can afford to move our child into a better rated school district before he starts kindergarten.

I don't even need a 8-9/10, but I'd like to get him out of 2s and 3s.

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

HBO has declined to renew “Sesame Street” for new episodes. The series that’s been teaching generations of little kids since 1969 now has no studio.

Please consider donating to Sesame Workshop to ensure the residents of 123 Sesame Street are still around to teach kids of all needs and backgrounds.

TIL that in 1843 the artist George Catlin accompanied 14 Báxoje (Iowa) on a tour of Britain, and they were so horrified by the poverty they saw everywhere that when some clerics asked to talk to them about sending missionairies among the Báxoje their leader Neumonya really let them have it.

While we're all talking about Luigi and the conditions of the jail he's being held in, let's hold space to remember that all of the 'evidence' against him has been circumstantial at best.

There is no DNA, witness testimony or confession tying him to the crime or even the scene of the crime.

I spent one of the best days of my life in NYC. I wanted to walk around and enjoy the beautiful day and see the city on foot - multiple locals stopped to see if I needed help, and when I explained they pointed me to their favorite parks and scenic avenues, or walked me there themselves.
Just saw two women on the subway take care of a person in dureee immediately and easily, cause that’s what the fuck we do in New York. I haven’t remind myself sometimes because they lie about us and denigrate us, but the heart of how we interact in person is with compassion.

Boosting this signal.

I used Spot On when I was tracking my ovulation because it didn't share my data with anyone ever, but it's a big buggy. Any other suggestions for a tracking app that doesn't share with the state?
The ovulation tracking app, "Ovia", now mandates you identify what state you live in. Delete immediately and warn anyone who might need to know.

It was a murder, but not a crime.
I can't stress this enough: If you think a CEO being shot down in broad daylight is terrifying to a wealthy ruling class, imagine the terror that would strike them if a jury looks at a smoking gun and, with a shrug, returns "We think he's not guilty."

media clearly know how to cover victims and avoid victim-blaming narratives, because I haven't seen any rush to demonize the UnitedHealth CEO by bringing up the insider trading or his DUI or his secret separation

I want a walkable neighborhood so bad 😭
100%. I’ll never live in a non walkable neighborhood again in my life.
Is living close to downtown/inner city important for you for NON-WORK reasons?

Here’s my pitch for why you should read this book: it’s not about what Derek and I have to say, tho I think we make a persuasive case; it’s the stunning and riveting and never-before-heard testimony of former players. Their stories are *still* shocking to me.
