What a visionary! In 1989, Apple employee Marc Porat conceptualised what was essentially an early version of the smartphone. The device, named Pocket Crystal, was a touchscreen mobile computer that could one day make calls, fax documents, play games, watch movies, and buy plane tickets.

“As an industry we should all be braced to hear about a lot more failures,” said Jenny Lefcourt, an investor at Freestyle Capital. “The more money people got before the party ended, the longer the hangover.”
Approximately 3,200 private venture-backed U.S. companies have gone out of business this year, according to data compiled for The New York Times by PitchBook, which tracks start-ups. After staving off collapse by cutting costs, many are out of options.

I am looking for alternatives to LIWC-22 to analyze language to understand individuals' thoughts, feelings, personalities, and the ways they connect with others. This will be for a product that helps people to learn more about themselves. Ideally open-source. Any idea is helpful. Thanks!

Fascinating that this round of automation hits white collar jobs the hardest. It has never been a better time to become a plumber 😉
NEW: Generative AI is already taking white collar jobs

An ingenious study by @xianghui90 @oren_reshef @Zhou_Yu_AI looked at what happened on a huge online freelancing platform after ChatGPT launched last year.

The answer? Freelancers got fewer jobs, and earned much less

Really interesting use of generative AI in the Bloomberg documentary RUIN about Sam Bankman-Fried and the stunning collapse of his cryptocurrency exchange, FTX. I think we will see that much more often in the future.

Smart move by OpenAI to create a GPT App Store and become the number one AI platform. Since it is dead simple to create custom GPTs, people will develop a lot of them. It will be exciting to see where the primary value is created and how creators will be compensated. What are your thoughts?
OpenAI is letting anyone create their own version of ChatGPT

“Andreessen Horowitz is warning that billions of dollars in AI investments could be worth a lot less if companies developing the technology are forced to pay for the copyrighted data that makes it work.”

This is NOT from The Onion

How far are we from the first AI politician? CulturePulse's new AI model for the UN aims to simulate every individual in the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, providing insights into policy and communication strategies. Not so sure what to make of this... www.wired.com/story/cultur...

You are not allowed to take pictures inside of Berghain. But I wonder what Hieronymus Bosch would have painted after visiting the famous Techno Temple in Berlin. So, I used my experience and put Midjourney to work to create some AI Art 🏢
