Christmas has arrived at Oak Hill. The children and staff have been busy decorating the school ready for Christmas. There are lots of exciting magical Christmas activities to share in the coming weeks.

In computing, year 2 had fun learning about how to take a good photograph. They explored the language ‘portrait’ and ‘landscape’ so we could choose the best way for our picture. They also learned about making sure they got everything in the image as well as getting it nice and clear.

The entries to the superhero competition have been amazing.
Representatives of our 'Safe and Sound' committee work with the safeguarding leads at Oak Hill. Today they helped to judge the competition and winners will be announced soon.

Today at 11am we observed a 1 minute silence to show our respect and remember all those affected by conflict. Thank you to all our pupils for taking part. Children have enjoyed wearing their poppies and members of Brownies, Rainbows, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers wore their uniforms with pride.

Year 4 have had a wonderful day learning all about The Anglo-Saxons and Vikings at Tamworth Castle. They took part in a range of workshops. The children had great fun and the castle staff and members of the public commented on their excellent behaviour and their wonderful manners.

Reception have been busy printing ‘fireworks’ with paint and have been matching and counting numbers 1-5.

The children have settled back into routines well and have enjoyed talking about their week off.

Nursery have had a very busy week!
At the start of the week, they made cards for a resident of a local care home who has turned 100 this week!
To end the week, they had messy play with pumpkins!

In their final Art lesson of the unit this week Year 4 created large scale pictures of specific details from logs. They worked with a variety of media such as , wax crayon and pastels. Finally they washed their work with watercolours. We are soooo proud of their work. Well done Year 4.

Last week the children in Year 1 compared numbers stating whether they were greater than, fewer than or equal to each other. We used practical resources to support our understanding of this.

Year 3 explored how sedimentary rocks can transform into metamorphic rocks. This happens due to heat and pressure. We created amazing volcano models.

This afternoon in the nursery garden a group of children were creating lovely imaginative play together. They showed pretend play by creating a cake using logs and acorns for the candles. They sang beautifully “Happy Birthday to you” and recalled past birthdays and future birthdays.

Year 4 have been reading 'The Queens Nose'. To support this, pupils worked hard making chicken coops for their homework! What an amazing effort.

As part of our science topic of living things and their habitats, we went for a walk around the school grounds today to see what creatures had created micro habitats. We were looking for invertebrates.

The closing date for Nursery applications for January 2026 is, Thursday 23rd October.

We accept children into our Nursery from the term after they turn 3 years old.
