While automated speed cameras keep getting chopped down and replaced in #Toronto, I spotted a different approach in York region while out and about yesterday.

This one on Main Street in Stouffville (and similar ones elsewhere) is mounted onto a hydro pole much higher above the ground.

It’s been several days since news surfaced a new 25-year operating contract between Metrolinx and a private consortium was quietly dropped, and the Ontario transportation agency still has yet to reveal more about the circumstances despite calls for information.
