I know folks love to pretend that 10 year wait for indefinite leave to remain doesn’t already exist, but it does and folks like me get stuck on it due to our time as students in this country.

And I can tell you from experience, a 20 year wait is fucking indefensible.

This! I welcome it too. I genuinely don't want bad things for anyone. The people who I admire most are the ones who suffer all of life's disappointments and somehow become even better people, who build even stronger structures of care and community. "That's* who we need to listen to. Not fascists.
I remember getting an NF leaflet through the door in Bath as a student (some 20 years ago) and being informed that the government was going to build around 15 cities the size of Brimingham just for migrants. I still welcome that utopia if it ever comes.

The fuck is unfunded hobbyist research? My hobbies are millions of miles removed from the academy and if my research was of no interest to others, this would show in every aspect of my career. We have the REF for this, no? So what other than right wing talking points being echoed is this adding?
