A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down.
All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown.
So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

People don't understand that ending political violence means state sponsored as well. They are calling for the dismantling of entire government institutions.

After her hearing at 26 Federal Plaza, a woman was detained and escorted toward the stairwell. Her husband, confused and in shock, was guided toward the exit. Minutes later, he broke down in the elevator. They entered together, but he left alone. This happens here daily. #ICE

At the risk of spending too much time on an exhausting Bluesky meta-discourse, I encourage people to actually read about Adeel Mangi's confirmation before chalking this up to People Online Who Are Reflexively Mean to Democrats. They fucked this up. Emil Bove is part of the price to pay for it.
Maybe everyone rushing to blame Dems for any bad thing that happens is the real cause of this?

Actually what Americans just saw today was a prominent Republican US Senator announce he is quitting because he knows this budget is going to hurt millions of people and he was repeatedly threatened by the president and his cult for telling the truth about it.
