Here's a peek of my biggest #memademay project! Made for my own handfasting ceremony from thrifted fabric. I worked on it slowly for two months, but I'd rather have one beautiful garment over a haul of cheaply made fast fashion any day. Less is more.

I'm so happy with these little stars! They're super easy to make too, anyone can do it with stuff they have at home. I used leftover leather that was too damaged for projects, but they could be made from cardboard too. Just cut out a star and put a slit on one end.

"I'm very vulnerable right now if any goth girls would like to take advantage of me" I designed the font based off of some late 18th century samplers. The cross stitch is hand done and my first time cross stitching. It's decorated on the sides with some more hand embroidery. And fully lined with this red, white, and black, Gothic print. Everything was left over scraps from my stash, the belt loops are actually leftover wool from a pair of pants I hemmed. Oh and the whole thing is hand blanket stitched all around the perimeter. Why did hair scarves ever go out of fashion!? My hair is a frizzy mess underneath and you can't even tell! Best part is you can get these vintage accessories at almost any thrift store for cheap because no one really wears them anymore.

New repair project! Trying to fix up this beaten up canoe in time for my birthday in August for a fishing trip. This was my first time actually sanding and working with any type of boat so I'm super stoked!

I picked up Four Treasures of the Sky by Jenny Tinghui Zhang one up for the Storygraph Around the World challenge. It broke my heart over and over again, and opened my eyes.

Bison just walking alongside our car in the Badlands. We are parked so that my husband could take some photos from inside the car. This is the photo he ended up taking as the bison went to cross the road. I love how he caught the bison looking back at us. Image uploaded on the computer this morning. Doing some small adjustments before printing the image. Final project! It literally took me only 30ish minutes to do. I used some transfer photo paper I bought from a thrift store a while ago for only $1.50. The shirt I had been holding onto for a while. It was too big so I also hemmed it and took it in a bit. The image did turn out a little blotchy but it gives it a worn out feel I like. I never was a fan of souvenir shirts so I just had to try and make my own.

Added a black trim to the godets and hem of my skirt last night and it added a nice finishing touch to the garment. The trim cost me only $1.98 at St. Vincent De Paul! Thrifted notions are a double win: affordable and sustainable.

Closeup of the black trim. I sewed it on the seams of the godet to frame it and give it a finished look. Side by side of the difference between the top godet with the finished trim and the bottom one without. Price tag on the roll of trim I bought at the thrift store. I know I had at least 7 yards which would mean I paid about 28 cents a yard!!!

So I just finished basting in 2 of my 4 godets and I love them! Please excuse the wrinkles, I haven't ironed yet 😅

The best part is I was able to make a custom rainbow ombre using thrifted fabric!!!
