I'm an animation guy and I'll always be an animation guy, but the idea that any given comic is just trapped in a lesser medium until it's animated is so offensive to me
Every Junji Ito anime adaptation showcases how comics aren't some throwaway stepping stone to animation and cinema, and that we should stop treating them as such. Comics, like prose novels, are their own medium that can convey things animation and video cannot.

remember that Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) still kicks ass and everyone into mecha should watch it despite it looking "old", old anime is still incredible and watching this foundational piece of the genre will make a lot of future stuff make sense in retrospect
