The theme of World Diabetes Day today, 14 November, is around supporting wellbeing and self-care, with a focus on diabetes in the workplace.

Diabetes UK run a number of local support groups. For formal therapy and online workshops, NHS Talking Therapies offer support.

Industrial action involving Resident Doctors representing the British Medical Association will start today and run til 19 November.

Today's #ThankYouThursday is for our Older People's Emergency Department!
“We just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone in the Old People’s Emergency Department at Norfolk and Norwich because our relative was taken in recently, and honestly, we couldn’t ask for better care. The doctors, Brett and Mary, were really good because they got the scan done quickly and let us know what was going on straight away. All the nurses were lovely too, especially Leslie, as she was so kind and really looked after us. The porters were great too - friendly and helpful. Honestly, we can’t say thank you enough. Every single person we met was just so kind and on the ball. You made a hard day a bit easier.”

Today, our Trust held a Remembrance service in honour of those who have served in conflicts past and present.

Wreaths were laid and a minute’s silence was held at 11am in respect of those who have given their lives to uphold peace and protect those persecuted by injustice.

Todays #ThankYouThursday is for Gunthorpe Ward, who carry out our general medical day procedures.
“I was admitted onto Gunthorpe Ward after receiving elective robot-assisted high anterior bowel resection, laparoscopic appendicectomy, and CV fistula tract repair. This chosen process of surgery has been highly beneficial to my post-op recovery with minimal wound care. I was discharged from hospital care after two days, allowing me to further recover in my home environment. I am sure this would not have occurred if not for having robotic surgery. Professor Shaikh and his medical team were outstanding throughout the process. I cannot compliment the medical and care team of Gunthorpe Ward enough. Nothing was too much trouble for them to ensure all of my needs were met. This was truly person-centred care.”

Today's #ThankYouThursday is for our Oncology and Haematology department in Mulbarton Ward.
“My mother, Jayne, sadly lost her battle with Cancer, she was being cared for by the lovely team in the Mulbarton Ward in. I wanted to send my most sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff who cared for her (and my family) over the past 3 weeks. Particularly the last 48 hours of her life. The genuine support and duty of care to ensure that she was able to feel comfortable and at peace, i will never forget. Dr Katyal was outstanding with us, managing both my mothers’ and our emotions throughout. And to Carol, Max, James and Mary, the Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who made her feel loved and special too. What an amazing team of people. I hope they realise how appreciated that are for all of their hard work, and that they are bring light into such difficult situations🩷”
