the way basic human decency hits these days is crazy
So the streamer Ludwig recently found out that one of his earliest regular viewers, who was trans, passed away and tonight he's doing a charity stream for the Trevor Project. So far he's raised over $46,000 in about 5 hours. www.twitch.tv/ludwig

This shit would make me want to malicious compliance so bad. Make it annoying and overburdening for the president to wade through all of the requests.

If you have to get permission to teach in your area of expertise from people who are definitionally not qualified to adjudicate your expertise then you are no longer working at a university.

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.

Woohoo!!! More Deadloch!
🚨Deadloch heads: S2 of the Aussie crime satire/drama (it's good!) arrives on Amazon Prime March 20. Many chaotic Aussie weirdos return/debut. But HEADS UP they have added a Hemsworth (Luke)! This is not a drill! Kudos to the hair & costume team for this whole deal. www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/st...

Now an example of overt state-sponsored white supremacy.
Indiana University removed a Lecturer from her "Diversity, Human Rights, and Social Justice" course after a student filed a complaint about a graphic the instructor showed in class, which included "Make America Great Again" as an example of "Covert White Supremacy."

I am, once again, begging people to learn the difference between *feeling* safe and *being* safe.

Our feelings are information, not facts. They do not reflect objective truths about reality. They reflect our perceptions about what's happening, which are very easily clouded by bias and judgement.
One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.

Sarah Schulman on “feeling safe,” from Conflict Is Not Abuse:

“It is used by the dominant to defend against the discomfort of hearing other people’s realities, to repress nuance, ignore multiple experiences, and reject the inherent human right to be heard.”

Once again, SCOTUS undermines the rule of law, its own legitimacy, and the lower federal courts with a 'back of the napkin' explanation that doesn't even bother to analyze the issue under the standards for staying an injunction—all to enable a bigoted attack on a targeted group.

When Democrats win elections: This totalitarian FREAK must be prevented from implementing the policies he ran on

This was to be expected from a Christian nationalist majority SCOTUS but it's still horrendous.

I will not for any federal political candidate who does not pledge to reform the court.

There is no future for liberal democracy so long as reactionary bigots have unilateral power to dismantle it.
1. In a major shadow docket ruling from the Supreme Court, the court has ruled against trans people's passports, giving a stay to the Trump administration.

The admin has previously indicated it intend to revoke some passports if it got this ruling.

I'm just glad I got mine when I did (during the pause) so it has the correct gender marker on it.

Once again, we need to define what “feminism” is here. Not everything any woman ever does—not even in the political realm, and not even concerning gender—is “feminism.” Opposing the rights of women as a class to equal status and dignity is in fact called “antifeminism.”

Attention has (justly) gone to the abuses in Chicago but the assaults in Los Angeles never ended. The military left but they were guarding building. DHS paramilitaries remain active in L.A. it's bad.
Don’t think ppl understand the terror the Feds are unleashing on the streets of LA right now. Roving patrols targeting vulnerable individuals. It’s horrible.

There’s no one coming to save us except ourselves.
The past week+ has been really intense in Los Angeles. We need all of the help, support, & attention we can get. Feds are literally roving the streets snatch & grabbing vulnerable individuals. It's horrific. We need to do more.

Trump's UN speech was not "unhinged" or "weird". It was a racist 'great replacement' speech. The stream of lies was a flex. He was telling the world "I say what is true. You can 'know' what you 'know'. It doesn't matter. I dictate reality. If I say black is white, up is down, 2+2÷5... it is."

If you never read Ted Dekker, I actually would recommend him because the man had some unhinged plots.

I will admit I very much enjoyed Thr3e (2006) as it played out the Shyamalan level twist.
honestly though, there hasn't been any decent evangelical horror movies, which is fascinating to me given evangelicals had ted dekker
