I think Pantsers lead a happier life than Plotters.

Always amusing to read Americans discovering technology the Dutch have had for 10 years. E-bikes allow older folks to continue using biking infrastructure well into their 90s.

I made my kids watch Episode IV, not Flash Gordon
Wrong in an interesting way.

One got something from knowing them when reading the writers of the 1970s in dialogue with them, but even then did not NEED them.

The best action film ever made, and I will die on that hill.
Tonight's movie. I mean, once I heard it was on Tubi, I didn't really have a choice. My roommate and I rewatched this so many times in the late 90s.

In The Netherlands, the nurse comes over every day to check in infant and mother welfare, coach the parents, and even vacuum and do the dishes.

I know this because I was one of those overwhelmed parents.
As of late May, state officials said more than 4,000 families had been visited by specially trained nurses who check on the mother and child and, if needed, connect the family with other services, like mental health support, among other things. www.njspotlightnews.org/2025/07/fami...

Whenever @garius.bsky.social posts a thread, it releases more endorphins than an action movie trailer.
The secret German weather station on the Arctic island of Svalbard. Part of the 'Weather War'.

The team, led by Lieutenant Wilhelm Dege, were the last German troops to surrender in WW2, finally doing so FOUR MONTHS after Germany had officially surrendered.

It was not for want of trying. /1

Snert! From the Groningen region of the north Ntherlands. Split pea soup with celery root, onions, parsley, and unseasoned meatballs or bacon. A staple against those biting, damp winds off the North Sea.

Amen. A tree doesn't acquire all its rings in one year.
You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.
