They’re really going for that coveted 0% approval rating aren’t they
And with that, the Senate is GONE until next Tuesday, November 18.

Joyce Carol Oates absolutely smoked Elon Musk, but Mary Shelley precognitively wrote an entire book about Musk in Frankenstein:
Rich dude has to build himself a friend, only to crash out when he realizes his friend hates him because he’s a loser.

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Congress’ approval rating is 20% but that’s a lot better than 0% which is what it’s going to be.
Angus King: "This initial strategy didn't work. And now we have one. We're gonna have a guaranteed vote on the ACA, and it may not succeed. I grant that. But a reasonable chance -- 10, 20, 30% -- is a lot better than 0% which is where we were."

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

If you a Democrat Senator and you’re not actively trying to unseat Schumer from his position of minority leader, I will vote against you.

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

This is a great guest post from the Handbasket that helps clear the political smokescreen around SNAP.
Who gives a flying fuck about “defending the homeland” if we aren’t feeding our countrymen.
Who gives a flying fuck about “defending the homeland” if we aren’t feeding our countrymen.
As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.
In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:

The platonic ideal grift: Convince all the richest people in the world they’ll never have to pay another worker ever again if they simply throw all their money into a magic box that might have god inside.
What elevates the AI bubble is it not only checks all four of the boxes emphatically, but that the *story* that underpins it all—that a superintelligence that can replace all labor is just around the bend—is bigger, more alluring to investors, and more uncertain. And the money is buying it.

If you have the means, please consider donating $ to your local food bank. And whether you can donate or not, get mad and get loud about millionaires and billionaires in our government ending SNAP.
We’re all a lot closer to poverty than we are to building golden palaces.

I think it's good to keep getting mad about evil and unjust things, if only to remind yourself and everyone else that these things are in fact evil and unjust. I don't think it's naive. Nor is it wise and sophisticated to adopt a "You fool, nothing matters and nothing good can ever happen" posture
