The beacon unlids its eye. A green pulse, a blade of emerald light,
shearing damp air. A swift cut across the wet skin of the pier, gleaming on concrete, catching nails and knots in a sudden, liquid gloss. It etches a path over dark waters, a momentary road to the distant, dreaming shore.

Bruised purple sky. In the gloom two forms emerge- girl, and the arching question of a hound. A silhouette
pasted on first light. Salt-wind combs the marram grass and tugs her hair. They walk, unspooling the dark and for a moment the whole weight of the night rests in the space between their shadows

This really was an extraordinary exhibition and the book that pulls it all together is huge and incredibly comprehensive (and very reasonably priced), I'm glad we were able to bring a copy home. There was a lot there that made me think of parallels to what's happening here, and in the wider world.
The Munich Documentation Centre pulls no punches. It acknowledges the crimes of the Nazis & of the wider population. It highlights starkly how the process of alienation & dehumanisation of ‘others’, false patriotism & perverted national identity was used to inspire and control. tinyurl.com/bdaax9d3

A dark September morning breathes a damp confession into the wind-the scent of waiting rain, of salt and soil. A wound across the horizon spills amber, bleeding gold to gild the tide. The leaden sea pulls with a deep, heavy hunger. And geese fly overhead, unspooling south, against the coming storm.
