Today, the Environmental Protection Agency announced it will shut down its Office of Research and Development and eliminate thousands of agency jobs. According to the agency, this office has long served as the scientific backbone of its efforts to protect both public health and the environment.

This book was published in 2017.

A demagogue can be defined as the following:

"a political leader who seeks support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument."

Really disgusted by this. The audacity of saying this deregulation would support the EPA's core mission of protecting the environment. This is proof to me that the EPA no longer exists.

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

I love to call my Senators' offices three times per week and try to cajole them into doing the most elementary political messaging and strategy. This is what it means to be an engaged citizen: leaving a strenuously polite voicemail for a 74yo on a more regular cadence than I talk to my parents.

If you want an empowering and positive update, I recommend listening to Rachel Maddow read the recent court transcript requiring federal employees to be rehired. It's truly perfect. Definitely needed this today, especially with the cloture vote on the horizon.

If you love wolves, you should be very concerned - the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the very legislation that saved gray wolves, Red Wolves, and Mexican gray wolves, is under attack. Call on your representatives in Congress to save the ESA.

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

First measles case reported in King County, Washington. The child was determined to have gotten it when traveling. Again, measles is highly contagious. Vaccination, wearing masks, and keeping track of previous potential exposure locations is very helpful to you and your community's health.

First case of measles reported in Austin.

Just days ago, RFK Jr. had the audacity to say this type of measles outbreak was normal and happened every year. That is not true.

Measles is highly contagious and stays in the air in the form of droplets for up to 2 hours.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.
