Some notable things in what's being called the "Trump peace plan" but which could not have been more clearly written in Moscow if it came with a 2 for 1 deal on tickets to the Bolshoi Ballet. 🧵

On a smaller point: do these people ever actually read Tolkien?

The whole point of the LoTR is that power corrupts; that no one can be trusted with the ring except the little people who want to destroy it; & that it's "the pity of Bilbo", not "the hard men of Gondor", that saves Middle Earth.

X is a cesspit led by an unhinged billionaire who is desperately trying to stir up civil war in Britain.

Nobody with any sense or decency should be there.

No organisations, government departments, or politicians should be there.

Everyone who is, is enabling this monster.

The cynical gesture of Keir Starmer recognising a Palestinian state.

Starmer surrendered when he turned his back on disabled people that rely on the government for support.

He surrended when he cut aid for the disabled.

He surrendered the moment he called us an island of strangers.

Real patriotism requires us to care.

We will never surrender our flag, Sir Keir Starmer says
The prime minister said the flag represents "our diverse country" and he will not allow people to feel intimidated.

We have struggled to explain the Starmer government. But I think the explanation comes down to two simple forces:
1. A visceral, obsessive hatred of the Labour left. Any progressive policy, however necessary and popular, looks to the inner circle like a dangerous concession to the left.

Does...does fucking anyone quotimg Leonidas know how that battle ended or what happened to Sparta after that war
Harmeet Dhillon at NatCon: "When the next group of elites comes to demand we stop protecting fairness in hiring, confidence in our elections, safety in girls sports, we're going to answer them the same way that Leonidas answered on the eve of the Battle of Thermopylae: Molon Labe. Come and take it."

Something we need to grasp is that Establishment power meant imperialism. Imperialism is a system of thought that sees upper class white men as the pinnacle of humanity, with a sacred duty to control the lives of others. What we now call the far right is an extension and revival of imperialism.
Why, you might ask, do the BBC and Sky News, casting their editorial guidelines to the wind, keep giving massive airtime to the far right, while shutting out leftwing voices? Don't their bosses understand the likely consequences?
Only one explanation now remains.
They do.
And it is what they want.

It's simple, if you throw paint on a plane then you get proscribed and any 80 year olds defending you get arrested.

If you ask people to burn down hotels, and they try, you get an interview in the Telegraph and positive coverage in the BBC.

That's sensible, proportionate policing.

What an utter absurdity our Home Secretary has created -

Destroying British free speech, right to protest and with it undermining democracy.

It is not for the government to terrorise the public for political opinions they don’t want to hear.

this really does feel like an existential problem for democracies across the world actually - how do you tell people "no actually you do just have to trust us on basically most things, please stop googling stuff and thinking you know better than us, you dingbats" and get them to actually listen?

All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.

There is no justification whatsoever for the US or UK to provide any support, material or diplomatic, for Israel's attack on Iran. It is a war of aggression, clearly contrary to international law.

As the US edges closer to bombing Iran, Israel killed over 51 starving Palestinians at a so-called aid site today.

And the UK government says nothing. Still arming Israel. Still enabling genocide.

End all arms sales. Sanction Israeli war criminals. Stop being America’s poodle.
