The Civ IV theme playing in the background tells me we’re about to start building a bunch of granaries. Or nukes.
Nearly 70 years since the Sovereign first opened Parliament, we welcomed Their Majesties back to Canada — a nation proud of its roots and with a bold, ambitious plan for its future.

Maybe Trump openly supporting Putin now *is* a good thing given what’s happened to the Chiefs and the US hockey team in quick succession

can't wait to play civ 7 like i play all the other civ games: exclusively play vanilla because expansion packs seem weird, play exactly the same style with the same civ for 1000 hours over the next decade, mostly ignore entire key game mechanics, and consequently never actually get very good at it

The left and centre-left are at their most effective when they put forward a positive vision for change that helps all of us. It’s good to see that’s being recognized.
I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

(And good to read Thucydides outside of a PoliSci lecture!)
If you don't understand point (3), read Dan Gardner here.

"Because the demands are only a pretext. Even if Canada could satisfy them to Trump’s liking, which is unlikely, he will find others."

Heed the lesson of Thucydides: Only brutality can deter brutal men.
