Willie Shanks has turned the local dump he manages into a community hub. Known for his humor and creativity, Shanks engages local residents with videos and events that transform his mundane job into a meaningful community role.
Column | The guy who runs the dump knows the secret to finding meaning at work
At a time when less than a third of American workers feel engaged in their jobs, we could all learn something from Willie Shanks.

not sure this was necessary but very cool nonetheless
💫 In a world seemingly dominated by AI Slop, Apple stands out with a positive example. ✨

Apple TV’s new logo was built with real glass and then captured via camera. The dedication to create something uniquely awesome is astounding. 🤩

as a former adobe suite pro user, +1 to this about affinity, it’s really good!
affinity is such an amazing adobe alternative. i've always loved them but they've always been an underdog. now that the entire suite is available completely FREE, i think it could be a real chance to challenge adobe's monopoly.

what i want from my design tools is node-based interface that can not just run different operations (make image, make 3d, etc) but also use live data as inputs so basically create real living products in real time

yesterday i had a lovely chat with someone many ageists in tech would consider “old” and it was delightful to meet someone 30-40 years into their career still eagerly learning, pushing themselves, experimenting with new tech, educating others, sharing their wisdom, etc.—inspired me!

some things i think are simultaneously true about AI

- many legit reasons to oppose on ethics & safety grounds
- to deny its *usefulness* is just unserious at this point
- we may need new forms of IP in an “everything is a remix” world
- a coming crash will probably clear out a lot of dumb stuff
