Isles now have the best record in the East in the last 25 games (15 wins, 14 ROW), and have taken down the top two in the West in dramatic fashion, while limiting TBL to one goal in 120 minutes in the past five days.
December 7, 2025 at 3:12 AM
The past 23 games TBL have been held to fewer than two goals twice—both against NYI.
December 7, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Isles are now 9-0-0 when taking 25 or fewer SOGs this season. (Six regulation wins, three OT wins.)
December 7, 2025 at 2:34 AM
This is remarkable, below.

Also the only team to hold Lightning to a single goal in TBL's last 20 games.

And the only team with 40+ SOGs or 6 goals vs COL this season.
December 5, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Isles have taken 46 SOGs against Aves while in the lead.

No one else in the NHL has 20 so far this season.

Isles are the first team to score five goals vs Aves in regulation this season.
December 5, 2025 at 2:08 AM
If Isles played as well in the games they SHOULD win as they did their 10 toughest games this season, they'd be top-5 in the NHL.

What is this team?

Schaefer is up to +13 for individual penalty differential this season. (18 penalties drawn, 5 taken)

Makar is down to +2. (8-6)

Shifty
Schaefer draws another penalty, league-leading 18th. Goes hard into the boards after being cross-checked by Lehkonen.

18:44 to go in the second. #Isles up 2-0. Schaefer is okay and is QBing PP1.

Three empty-net misses vs TBL last night, but also Lee had a chance with 2:37 remaining to make a five-foot pass to Barzal, who would have had momentum on a 2v2 break, with the empty net.

Isles need to work on finishing the game. Four fails usually costs a team.

Expect Lee + Barzal to do better.

I figured out why "Kash Patel" sounds so weird in my head.

Could be a knockoff of Mattel's Fisher-Price.

Isles now have the best record in the East for each team's last 20 games played.

Isles played 12 of the 20 on the road.

In their four 2nd-of-B2B games, they gained eight points, allowing a total of three goals at WSH, at NYR, at UTA, and vs SEA.

There's no way Binnington is getting to the puck before it hits Faulk's skate. Such a crazy bounce.

The reason he spins and *almost* gets close to the puck after bounce is DUE TO the interference.

I think it is goalie interference by the spirit of the rule, but we've seen goals like this count.

How come you can't go outside in the hot, but you can go outside in the cold?

I need to verify with another source, but it appears Mario Lemieux already has prepared a letter to mail out on March 27th, and he is NOT happy about it.

The worst part of the officiating in Dallas is that Schaefer should have had a +1 or +2 penalty differential, but ends up -1 on the night.

One of the best bits by an Islander past 25 years:

You know Schaefer is doing big things when the New York Post, which usually prefers to pretend the #isles either don’t exist or aren’t a New York team at all, has two columns about him, one of which is by Vaccaro

Despite the back-to-back Schaefer is top-10 for TOI the past two games.

He's also outscored MTL the past two games, for what it's worth. (I added this for Twitter War I, but I'll leave it in.)

Reminder of how fortunate we are:

If you invited five of your friends, at random, to a 2025 NHL draft lottery party, there was a better chance that two of the six of you shared a birthday than of NYI winning the 1st overall pick.

Barzal hasn't had such great 3v3 linemates since Crosby + Letang that one All-Star weekend.

Those three should be able to do this vs 20+ other teams 3v3.

Barzal and Schaefer are such excellent skaters, while Horvat does everything else well.
