@scottsolomon.bsky.social Thanks again for the awesome talk at our TMN meeting last night. I didn't realize that ants were so fascinating.

My whole family has been down with COVID for over a week and a half. I finally managed to go for a short nature walk today and saw this new to me beetle.

I was the first one sick, which is awful because I had only went to CVS to get meds the week I got sick! Pick up meds, get bonus germs I guess.

Enjoyed a morning of birding on Sunday. ☺️ As you can see, I am not a good birding partner...always looking for the little things. I might have gotten a bit too excited about finally seeing these 'tree cattle' bark lice. #arthropods #texasmasternaturalist #txstateparks #insects #spider #nature

I've seen a few cool flies over the past two days, so I thought I'd join in #flyday this week. #insects #flies #inaturalist

Some of my favorite finds from #citynaturechallenge. I ended up getting sick and missing half of it, but I had a blast when I did get out and managed to log 700 observations and ~350 species. #inaturalist #texasmasternaturalist #insects #htx

Got up before 6 today to see the Amur stonechat in Anahuac Texas. We saw her and she's so pretty. Walked around the refuge for several hours looking for more birds and insects. Saw my first hooded warbler and these cool weevils. Lots of gators out today. 🪶 #texasnature #weevils #alligators #sleepy

Some of our fun finds volunteering yesterday. I swear nature hikes are keeping me sane right now. So thankful the insects are back in full force. #texasmasternaturalist #arthropods #beetles #insects #bugs #iNaturalist #iNat #setx

Greetings, chordate comrades. #InverteFest is upon us.

tl;dr: Over the last 7 days every April, August, and December, we invite you to show the internet your coolest bugs & slugs.

Go find critters, post your art, write wikipedia pages, do whatever you like to celebrate invertebrates with us!

The rain finally cleared out, so it was time to go visit nature!! I got a new bird to add to my life list, a couple cool new insects, and we saw this cute, messy cattle egret. #iNaturalist #htx #insects #birds

Soooooo happy the insects are finally back!!! I was getting so tired of birds. 😆 They are my winter fun, but give me the insects any old day! (Although I did get to add Northern Parula to my life list this week). #texasmasternaturalist #insects #bugs #nature #texas #iNaturalist

OMG!!! Moths are back!! I have to switch to birds over the winter, but I am ready for all the insects!!! Yay!!! I had 10 species come to my sheet tonight. Not bad in the middle of suburbia for a couple hours. #moths #insects #htx

Spent the morning volunteering as a #texasmasternaturalist. This giant dinosaur was our first bird sighting of the day. They look so prehistoric. #birds 🪶 #texas #naturewalk

We see tons of grackles in the parking lots around us, but we had one visit our bird feeder for the first time today. It is welcome to return, but hopefully not with his gang of friends. I can't afford to feed them all. 🤣 I keep food for them in my trunk to leave when I go shopping though. 🪶 #birds

Went out exploring with a friend today and after seeing eagles and cool insects, enjoying the sound of walking through fallen leaves, we ended by finding this. 😂 I am so tempted to upload it to #iNaturalist just for laughs. We need all the laughs right now. #texasparks #strangethingsinnature

To avoid males as much as possible, female Rocky Mountain Parnassians don’t fly much. Instead, they spend most of their time running around on the ground!

I finally have a good heron pic to add! I see so many awesome ones and am always jealous. This cute dinosaur was beside the road when I turned into the area I was going birding yesterday. #birds #texasmasternaturalist #texas #trnwr
