I need this kind of help like I need a raccoon in my bra
Google has now admitted that they will tap into users' personal data within Gmail and Drive in order for their upcoming AI search to "be more helpful".

For years, Google has advertised their services as "encrypted" and "secure", which begs the question: are they really?

today I remembered that in 2020 I went to go look at a condo open house and the only things the people who lived there had hung on their walls were wedding photos, their ketubah, and this:

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Friends don't let friends follow Alt National Park Service. This is so weird and inappropriate!!!
AltNPS's post is full of the same lurid details and breathless dramatization as their previous attempt at ICE raid erotica from a few weeks ago.

Things that AltNPS could not possibly have witnessed, and which aren't reported anywhere else.

i call this view 'reactionary centrism' - the problem with it is that modern fascism *cannot* be appeased; they don't want a few compromises in women's sports, they want a total social transformation and the end of liberal democracy

Today is as good a day as ever to permanently deactivate your AirBnB account.

Add the facts that their founder is working for DOGE, the company is on BDS Movement’s pressure list, and how it drives up housing costs by turning prime units into investment properties and its a no brainer.
Joe Gebbia, a billionaire, is the co-founder of AirBnB, a presidential appointee and a Tesla board member claiming ISIS waited until the last minute to endorse Mamdani.

This is sick.

This is a joke about dumb poor Kentuckians.

A close read however, shows how many people in Kentucky want to vote for a %#!? socialist, they’ve reached out to their local electoral officials to make sure that they can.

Tell me again how we need to be a little racist to attract rural red voters.

This article is really great bc it's about an org everyone knows but seems so boring we forget about it (Common Crawl) and turns out they're doing something extremely shady, AND the guy in charge keeps saying the most damning things to a reporter www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

The web archive Common Crawl has been quietly funneling paywalled articles to AI companies—and lying to publishers about it.

New: Videos show ICE/CBP agents are scanning peoples' faces on the street to verify citizenship. ICE has tool to instantly look up unprecedented number of databases with just a photo

“I’m an American citizen so leave me alone”

“Alright, we just got to verify that”

Videos on social media show officers from ICE and CBP using facial recognition technology on people in the field. One expert described the practice as “pure dystopian creep.”

IDK what that means going fwd but it is a Very Big Deal that people with a lot of wealth and political power suddenly feel a personal stake in this issue

It's VERY important that it translates into *solidarity* rather than the usual crime/policing "keep this unpleasantness contained to Over There"/

I have already heard/seen a huge difference. Ppl usually proud of being neutral/apolitical saying THIS is new and bad and different

It's not and they're wrong but what IS different (and possibly very good) is their awareness and engagement and willingness to be publicly identified with opposition

For most white people, the ICE surge existed only on social media - IF that

Not in their social networks, not within miles of many

It's different now. Lincoln Park is densely-populated and a many (most?) white people in Chicago know someone who lives near where fed agents gassed the neighborhood +

Most ppl know that Chicago (home of modern urban segregation) is a very segregated place but I don't think most outside Chicago (+many Chicagoans!) understand how the *distances* involved and *depth* of segregation mean most white ppl have ZERO visibility into many Black and Latine neighborhoods
