For everyone saying political violence has no place in this country…

Remember two Democratic legislators were shot in Minnesota just this year.

And America shrugged and moved on.

Something I wonder about for real is what comes after this, whenever that is. Because it can't be this again, right? Like if this is what the presidency is now then we can't ever have another president

From Martin Zubimendi to Viktor Gyökeres and now Eberechi Eze, it feels like this summer was a massive step forward for the club. It's going to be a truly exciting season, and I can't wait to see what the team is capable of this year.

Yeah, I still have #Superman on my mind. After rewatching the 1978, 1981, and 2006 movies (along with this year's film), I began to notice something about the core conflict between Lex Luthor and Superman. It's in how they view the planet. 1/8

Pretty sure that was an earthquake just outside NYC a few minutes ago. Felt like an explosion shook my house.

Just saw Fantastic Four. Decent movie, but overall not breaking any new ground. Certainly a vast improvement over what came before (honestly though, I haven't actually seen the 2015 reboot, and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep during the 2007 film), but it's still rehashing Marvel's same old formula.

I saw Superman a third time tonight. While I will likely be mining the film for meaning in the coming years, it turns out that the movie works as a simple comfort film just as well. When it comes out for home viewing, I'm certain it will be my go-to when I need something to simply make me feel good.

Quick clarification: What the US did to Japanese Americans was concentration camps. What Germany did during WW2 was death camps. What the US is doing now is somewhere in between, but it's inching ever closer to the latter.

There are still people boycotting the movie under the #restorethesnyderverse "movement"? I'd be sad for them if so many of them weren't such toxic assholes.

2025's #Superman was the boldest and loudest indictment of the Zionist ethnonationalist violence committed against Palestine I think I've ever seen in a summer blockbuster film, but conservatives are more angry about Superman's immigration status, either because they haven't seen the film... 1/3

The right-wing backlash against #Superman this week got me thinking: Has this happened before?

That led to the discovery of these headline — from April 1940, when the official newspaper of the SS took umbrage at the comic book hero and ridiculed its creators.

My how times change ...

I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am that this latest version of Superman does away with the Jesus Christ allegory. The last few Superman-centric movies all portray Superman as a Christ figure, and it's honestly one of the most annoying tropes that became part of the Superman mythos. 1/2

I'm shook. THAT was a Superman movie.

Rewatching Superman Returns (2006)

The Spectre of the Past Superman Returns is a strange movie. Not terrible, exactly. Just a bit drab and somewhat boring. It’s a film made with reverence for the source material—clearly the product of someone who loves Superman, or at least, the 1978 film by Richard Donner. But it often feels like it’s haunted by the memory of better movies. It doesn’t just want to continue the story of…

White men & white women are the only racial/ethnic demographics with majorities voting for trump.

Tell us again how white people woke up a long time ago.

Real talk. If I'm the Int'l committee for the 2028 LA Olympics or 2026 World Cup, I have 0 desire to subject my athletes to ICE fascism in the USA. Why would any athlete risk their life, safety, & years of hard work to get targeted by ICE for having the wrong complexion or tweeting the wrong tweet?

As the hype begins to build over the upcoming Superman movie from DC Studios, I have thoughts. But I want to be clear about something from the start of this thread: Superman is by far my favorite comic book superhero. I just don’t think a truly great Superman story exists in a big-budget film. 1/34

Happy #GaysianSolstice to all who celebrate! It's the end of #AANHPI Heritage month and the beginning of #Pride month. The annual reminder that no class system, no race, no sexual orientation, and no gender identity makes us better or worse than anytime else.
