Hi!👋 I'm a Childrens book illustrator based in Scotland, I love drawing cute things, hiking and being outdoors. You can find me at: natasharimmington.com and rep'd by The Bright Agency 💙
Later this week I'll be displaying my work at Scotland's First Jigsaw Festival! 🧩Illustrating more puzzles is top of my wish-list for 2026, especially a wooden puzzle set collection 🤞

About two years ago I returned to having a part-time job because I couldn't make a living from just Illustration. It felt crushing after so many years trying to go solo and that perhaps my art wasn't good enough. Not worth enough. 😮‍💨But somehow it works out for the best...
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

So your telling me there's a local race where I can run around someone's field to get a medal AND a haggis? And then wear it on a rather nice black t-shirt...First race of '26 confirmed! 😄🏅

I've always used social media for art, but never personal life, so it's tricky to get into the habit of it. 🏃‍♀️I'm back to running again using a walk/run mix as my ankle continues to recover. I'd like to be back to half marathon level by New Year🤞 Big challenges planned for 2026

Fat Bear Week is here early, and the bears are fat and playful
The famous bears of Alaska's Katmai National Park are enjoying an abundance of salmon, and even some playtime, as they pack on pounds to prepare for the winter.

Hey #kidlit illustrators!

We're beginning work on new Christmas/nighttime themed picture book. I'm looking for someone with a painterly, textured, and literary style capable conjuring magic, light, and wonder.

Please respond w/ samples + folio link.
Please no emails/DMs.

DNS 😞Guess where I'm not. Today I should have been taking part in Edinburgh Trail Escape, but due to spraining my ankle early July it was a no go. 🏅Deferred entry to next year (because I want to enjoy it and not limp around having a bad time)

💙Apologies, I have no access to messages here on Bsky thanks to the age verification which I can't get around (as I have a debit card not a credit card) Hope they find a fix or alternative 💙

Throwback to 2017 when my art looked a little different 🫣 Completely forgot about the donated tennis balls, tempted to give it a redraw sometime 🥎 #kidlit #kidlitart

Another behind the scenes! The fast food spread was one of my favourite scenes to draw, especially for the mouse in the taco outfit. As an easter egg, you'll find the van from 'Taco Truck' (published 2023) which was based on the van from Overcooked 2🦜 #wip #kidlitart #newbook

Another partial spread from my latest book. Busy scenes are my favourite to draw and I try to make every character unique. Look out for a scared lion, lost rubber duck and lots of polka dot mugs ❄️ #kidlitart #kidit

Give me illustration work to do or I will find something else to do that you might regret later (shitty landlord could be an option).

Currently busy with client work (including my first colouring in book! ) But this is something from last year where I briefly considered designing a series of wooden toys for young children🧩

Had a lovely hike up Ben Chonzie until I badly sprained my ankle and needed to go to A&E. X-rays all clear but my foot is quite the sight 🫠

Signed up for another walk this September given there's no more Glencoe Challenge. I mean...I said I'd never RUN a marathon, never said anything about walking 😜
