There is this pervasive belief that the most horrible, violent proposals from the right are just rhetoric and they’ll back off if they get the power to enact them. That’s why abortion is still legal in all states and we’re not rounding up immigrants for torture and rendition.

The idea that someone who's an expert in a field must be biased because they agree with the predominant, evidence-backed view of a subject is insane. "That farmer thinks plants need water to grow, but of course he'd say that! We should find some doctors to get an opposing viewpoint for fairness!"

The best recent litmus test on whether a media figure is anti-trans or not is how they describe Trump's anti-trans HHS report. What's even more telling is how many of these same people condemn every other HHS move on things like vaccines, AIDS research, and replacing scientists with ideologues.

The Trump administration is doing so much damage that will be so difficult-- if not impossible--to undo, even if the next administration immediately takes action to counteract these destructive policies, and even if subsequent administrations uphold those remedies.

Carbonara pasta from Naples in Knoxville, TN. It's been almost 20 years since it was a regular in my rotation, and the restaurant closed several years ago now. I've eaten so many good meals in restaurants since then, and I still miss that exact carbonara sometimes.
I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again

The fact that not small numbers of Christians are cheering as humanitarian aid and social safety nets are yanked out from under vulnerable, struggling people demonstrates exactly why any individual Christian is untrustworthy to me until proven otherwise.
