Longtime transplant to Minnesota. By day I teach English; by night I dabble in performing and visual arts. Mostly a homebody but love travel and the outdoors. Queer autistic; introspective and peaceful by nature. This box is too small.

Question of the night at Rep. Victoria Spartz’s town hall.

Ben from Westfield: “I’ve been a registered Republican since 1976. Why have Republican Congress members not reined in the President’s illegal, unconstitutional acts.”

I am probably going to use Bluesky more for the chat feature. I am narrowing most of my communications to people I already know.

Prior to Covid it was normal to mask in the NICU. People understood that premature babies are as vulnerable as they come and need to protected.

Now? Gowns & gloves but no masking.

The damage caused by anti mask rhetoric will be felt for years (possibly decades) to come.

It’s not terrifying that Elon Musk did two Nazi salutes on live TV. It’s terrifying that none of his supporters have a problem with that.

AG nom Pam Bondi...

-Didn't investigate Trump University for fraud as Florida AG after receiving a $25k donation from a Trump nonprofit

-Served as lobbyist for massive corporations

-Was part of Trump's impeachment defense team

She's a walking, talking conflict of interest.

This is a lesser issue. Cabinet appointee routinely change their positions to get in line with the administration that picked them. The issue is whether these three nominees are qualified (they are not) and belong anywhere near a cabinet post. (They do not.)

I don't really use TikTok that much, but I find it fascinating that our government is on the verge of banning an app for national security reasons that are still unclear in the same week that Meta, the largest social media company, says it's now fine to hate LGBTQ people and call us mentally ill.

His appeal on a political level is reasonable if horrible. Monsters want a monster to run things with monstrous policies. But I finally figured out the personal appeal: He gives people permission and freedom to be emotionally and intellectually lazy.
