Every instance of Laozi referring to the Dao as "Mother" or "Feminine" is preceded by an epistemological statement "Seen as named." "This is just a name." When he refers to the Gods he even says "Image of the Gods." He consistently refuses to give his symbols power over reality.

You can literally just do stuff. You can literally just be there for your friends without getting emotional. You can literally just do random acts for homeless people. You can literally just grow a garden and give vegetables to the neighbours.

A lot of people seem to not realise that you can think. Like you’ll say something like “history is written by specific classes which biases our view of it towards eclectic social norms and rituals,” and they’ll be like HUH WHERE DID YOU READ THAT???

Eight hour workdays are a bit strange because now that I have plenty to do with my life I can confidently say working 8 hours a day is quite literally impossible (sober)

Fun fact: The Chinese word for "contradiction" is "spear-shield" (矛盾) Strange, right? It comes from an ancient 3rd century b.c. story where a merchant is selling armaments during the Warring States period and proclaims that he has an "unpierceable shield!" And an "unstoppable spear!"
