I’m just a small-town political scientist, & it’s still relatively early, but it appears that The Actual Democrats did not Need To Do any of the Things or Learn any of the Obvious Lessons that Ezra Douthglesias said they Must Do & Learn.

We go to sleep in a better country than we woke up in. Thank you to everyone who worked for these coast-to-coast victories, for this utter repudiation of Trumpism, for economic justice and a country for all of us, not for white supremacy.

I've finally got around to curating a selection of films about the #climate crisis 🎥

There's lot of mediocre climate films out there, but for me these stand out head & shoulders above the rest 🎞️

They make excellent resources for classrooms, lecture halls, or community cinema's 🎬

"What's your book about?"

Okay, hold on. Give me a second. I know this. I wrote it. It has a plot and things to say. I just need to think about how to explain it in under four hours of rambling tangents so I don't scare you away

My dystopian flash appears in Writers Resist today. It was written after the election around the question plaguing me: What will it mean to be Black in Tr*ump's America? I hope you'll check it out.

This is the exact reason why real human writing and stories will always matter.

I am still haunted by this poem, "The Myth Was Never The Unicorn," written by one of the teens who participated in the creative writing program at the museum this summer. A reminder that girls are always aware.

Read the full piece and listen to the author recite it: journey75.org/2025/the-myt...

Okay, this is a thread for U.S. folks, but also anybody facing political woes at home. I'm pinning this to my profile as an irregularly updated thread for advice and links on how to take action/take care of yourself. Scroll through it any time you need reminders (that's what I'll be doing myself).

I know we don't feel like there's much to celebrate this July 4th. It's been a rough several years.

So I want to talk about how we're making history right now.

You possibly don't know I have a Substack, because I am bad at social media, and I write it under a pen name. I should really link to it, somewhere. But anyway, I just made a new post, which I meant to be encouraging, and hopefully succeeds.
