weird header for an article about the very real dangers of modern industrial agriculture
How Oregon’s Data Center Boom Is Supercharging a Water Crisis

Amazon has come to the state’s eastern farmland, worsening a water pollution problem that’s been linked to cancer and miscarriages.

this is a story about farming that they have decided to make about datacenters. the amazon rep called them liars directly and they just print it and then return to insinuating all sorts of shit

It will be interesting to see if corporate ag sector can continue getting away with pinning natural resource use and pollution from farming on data centers, with the assistance of uninformed ‘AI’ doomers.

Big tech is easier for most people to hate than farmers, but make no mistake: it's the farms polluting the water

So fascinating.

All the pollution comes from agriculture, and they understand that. But they don’t know how to make those facts into a story.

It’s just — not — a — story without the frisson of culture-war and chattering class ressentiment added by data centers.

The problem with this article is they asked too many lawyers and not enough historians.

As a historian, I'd say the legality of Trump's immunity and pardons depends on how he leaves office.

At 40 over 55 approval? He's immune.

At 25 over 65? He's probably not immune & self-pardons aren't legal.

That December vote is a huge moment we can turn into a victory. People are watching. Good bill, we win; they cheat, they will lose. If we fight united.

okay, so, with Dems successfully keeping anyone up in 2026 for voting for this turd let's take a look at who's up in 2026 anyway:

1. Cory Booker - apparently involved behind the scenes, constantly looking for bipartisanship. I don't dislike him personally but he doesn't have what we need. Primary.

we genuinely have to take LLMs away from people like openai because this is too transformative a technology to let them render it radioactive like this
I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

I just watched Mamdani's victory speech. The truth is I've been brutally depressed for weeks and while I can't quite feel the sunshine, it's the first time I've seen it in a while. Good things can happen. Good people can win

Thank you to everyone who went so hard to make this happen. I love you all

you can win without billionaires supporting you

you can win without party leadership endorsing you

you can win unapologetically standing with every persecuted minority pundits say are too politically toxic to touch

we could do everything about this process differently if we wanted to
Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

AI’s plagiarism laundering should absolutely be fought with zeal, but false accusations, ignorance of art techniques, misunderstanding the problem to the point of “computers bad,” it’s all gonna discredit and obfuscate the thing that should be fought.

Same goes for using “AI” as a casual insult.
