Excellent piece this
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

This was always going to be the direction given how little illegal immigration there is. This is going to do us all damage for years to come.
The points @msjasminemn.bsky.social makes in the body of the article are important.

Rhetoric around immigration has now moved against not only illegal immigration, but legal immigration.

Farrige gives the impression he doesn’t trust scientists, but was willing to believe a taxi driver in Buckinghamshire, that Sharia Law is coming to Britain.

This guy wants to be PM?! You must be joking!

I’ve recently read three articles in TES about women in educational leadership, which have made me thoughtful. On 20th May 2025, Manos Antoninis wrote a piece entitled ‘Female school leaders benefi…

Had a chat with Billy Bragg at Latitude while we were both eating lunch. He told me that teachers and school leaders make more of a difference to the world than musicians ever can and he shook my hand. He made a difference to me today for sure. He is such a nice, humble bloke.

My close friend Jim Stewart has died, aged 67, after a rapid progression of Parkinson's. We taught English, organised @NATEfeed conferences & wrote books together. He taught me much about teaching, Shakespeare, music & the hills, and even more about laughter. He's deeply missed.

In the latest post on our Substack I try to make sense of the mutual incomprehension between teachers & students about the role of AI.

Is it OK for students to use AI to write their assignments if that's the most efficient thing to do?

If not, why not?
