They really do fit the henchmen stereotype.
Now his administration’s top henchmen are taking over, helping to carry out the latest chapter of the ongoing goal of his second term: seeking retribution against his perceived political foes.

I believe this to an extent as well, but I also know that I am responsible for my past decisions and own up to them. The Senator doesn’t have time for that.
BRENNAN: Do you regret your confirmation vote for Secretary Kennedy?

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

Amazing how racist goon squads can wake people up to danger, but it's unfortunate that everyone had to touch the hot stove to find out it was hot
In the recent New Jersey governor’s race, the Democratic Party clawed back much of the ground it had lost with Hispanic voters in the 2024 presidential race, according to a township-level analysis of results by The New York Times. See the maps.

The New Jersey governor’s race was the first significant sign that President Trump’s success with Hispanic voters in 2024 may have been only a temporary shift.

It's easy to get inured to the crazy, but this is Trump referring to the main exterior window of the East Room, a part of the White House that has been there since 1800, as "a knock-out panel," a construction term for a temporary part of a wall designed to be easily demolished to allow for expansion
Trump: "Right behind me by the way, in about 2 years from now, is a much bigger room. This will be the entrance. That's a knockout panel. It looks pretty nice right now but it'll look a lot better in a little while... The future entrance to something that's really become very popular, the ballroom."

I can recall getting boxes of powdered milk and big blocks of cheese. Most families I knew lived on a very tight budget. The choice between electricity and food was real and common. People today have no idea how much better their standard of living is.
One thing I remember from the early 80s was the generic foods aisle. (Where I shopped.) White boxes marked "macaroni and cheese" and cans marked "chili" and "beer." (Mac and cheese? 25 cents, or about 80 cents today.)
That recession, and the unemployment it brought, was brutal.
Wasn't there a point in the early 80's where unemployment in the US approached 10%? Some of my friends from that time have fond memories of unemployment checks, food stamps, and other not so fun things
