It's been a while since I got to work on my game, but today I got to knock out a rough implementation of vertical scrolling! Here you can see platform snapping to an offset and different focus points for when you're in the air versus on the ground.

It's #ScreenShotSaturday, and I no longer use pngs for sprites!
I now get all pixel information directly from aseprite files, saving me export time and less manual definitions all around :)

Being willing to talk on the phone effectively amounts to a super power in this day and age. I swear, for the vast majority of restaurants you can give them a call, check their availability, and book a reservation faster than whatever third party booking system can load their single-page web app.

Today I FINALLY got level switching on the GBA game implemented! Now I can conceivably make a series of levels that begin to feel like a game, rather than a sandbox.

PSA for Clair Obscur players: be careful on the world map! I was able to get stuck on the map. I went to camp and thought that leaving camp would spawn me in area I could walk again, but nope, still stuck. I had to go 3 saves back before I was unstuck again.

I was picking away at "Lumiére" melody from Clair Obscur on the piano this morning, and realized that it's the classic Pokemon "Road to Viridian City - From Pallet Town" melody, but walking down instead of up. For a game that isn't ashamed of its influences, I have to wonder if it's on purpose.

Colors for GBA games are hard. All these photos are showing the same scene rendered. The colors that emulators and FPGA devices display by default are dramatically more luminance, even when filters are applied to make it look more like the original device.
