My attendance record in the European Parliament was the 4th worst out of 751 MEPs, yet I managed to turn up to vote AGAINST plans to tackle Russian misinformation.
Thankfully this is of no interest to the media.

So sad to hear that Stuart Boam has passed away. One of Jack Charlton’s champions. A fantastic Centre Half. A real legend. RIP great man.

Walking around Thirsk last night. Came across a lady and a gentleman sat on foldable chairs watching over some ducks which were asleep in the square. They will protect them until they wake up and then guide them back to the river. They do this most nights. Heartwarming.

If you have 45mins to spare take a look at Max Roving’s video of him cycling across Afghanistan. Absolute stunning scenery. What a guy! Unbelievable! 🥰

Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

Remember this before you order your next pumpkin spice latte.

Look at this brilliant clip from the National Library of Scotland showing an Orkney Library Book Box being filled to go to the island of North Ronaldsay in 1957.

The Family Box service started in 1954 and continues to this day, serving customers in North Ronaldsay, Papa Westray and Graemesay. ❤️

This clip from ‘Life in the Orkneys’ shows a box of books being packed up in Kirkwall Library to go to families on more rural islands. The box contains books for everyone in the family.

Good old BBC - working hard to find a way to avoid saying growth recovered strongly in June, or the economy grew faster than forecast in Q2, or it grew by as much in half a year as the OBR forecast for the whole year.

FACT OF THE DAY. 11 August 1968. Last steam train ran on British Rail. The final journey was by the, Stanier Five Black Locomotive 45110 from Carlisle to Liverpool’s Lime Street Station. The ban on steam was lifted in 1971 thereby paving the way for the many heritage specials which now operate.

The threat to our society is not from asylum seekers in small boats. It’s from politicians and media cynically whipping up fear and prejudice, labelling them all as criminals, inciting hatred against people for where and what they’ve fled from.
It must stop. For all our sakes. It’s deeply sinister.
