In many countries we're seeing voters that have never known anything other than stability and a certain level of competence voting for anti- system candidates because they have convinced themselves of two things: things right now are awful; change will only be for the better.

To every part of the world of every size having an election soon — Think really carefully before sitting it out, before thinking “they’re all the same,” before letting “the perfect” be the enemy of the rational & competent, and before assuming that “change” won’t end up being an absolute nightmare.
It will take years to repair the damage that Trump and Musk have done in less than two weeks. And it’s going to take a lot of hard work to make sure we even get the chance.

This is also why vaccine-denial is so prevalent. People don’t have a memory of what mass death from smallpox looked like, or post-poli disability.

Good morning. I mean, technically, Doomed Morning Under A Sky Of Roiling Blood, but look it's a rhetorical thing.

I am a former incarcerated firefighter. I served in a California fire camp from 2009 to 2012.

Misinformation is afire on the internet, so here are facts about the prison firefighter program, all in one place.

A thread.

I'm honestly still amazed, at 50yo, how my perception of time has changed over the years. It's going so quickly now. I still remember kindergarten was like the longest year of my life. It just never seemed to end. Now every year feels like 3 months and it's done, onto the next already.
