As a scientist and general fan of satire, it saddens me to hear of the passing of Tom Lehrer — a man of uncommon wit, incredible intellect, and finesse with the absurd in song form. To celebrate, here is my favorite of his melodies…

Today’s AI for Clinical Medical Physicists sessions were fantastic. Closing out tonight with Varian conversations and scripting gave me way too many ideas! Great day 1 at #AAPM2025

The Trump Administration’s action to suspend all federal grants & loans will have a devastating impact on the health and well-being of millions of children, seniors on fixed incomes, and the most vulnerable people in our country.

It is a dangerous move towards authoritarianism.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.

Yes scientists and doctors can get it right !
I was skeptical at first, but Bluesky really is a fantastic platform for scientists who want to engage in broader public conversations.

Thank you @bsky.app and @jay.bsky.team for this amazing resource!
